SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: ‘NETWORKOLOGY SOARING HIGH IN EAGLE FORD’
Networkology’s senior management team have just completed a week’s long liaison visit to the US’s largest shale play basin, Eagle Ford in Southern Texas. Hosted by a number of major oil companies and service providers, the prime purpose of the visit was to gain real world appreciation of the business drivers, requirements and constraints experienced at the sharp end of both the conventional and un-conventional sectors of the Oil & Gas industry and how this is reflected within the existing and next generation of IP networking architectures. Conscious of the rapid onset of the ‘Digital Oilfield’ and the drive towards drilling automation, Networkology aims to be at the forefront of this evolution by being able to deliver the underlying architectures required to meet the need for the ever advancing ‘Big Data’ analytics, Unified Data and Voice Communications and most importantly robust Cyber Security throughout the entire Oil & Gas business cycle.
Commenting on the visit, Networkology’s CEO, William McEvoy highlighted the significance and benefits of the trip:
“The insight and knowledge exchange that we have experienced in Eagle Ford this week, with a wide range of organizations has been invaluable as we move Networkology forward within the blossoming energy sector both here in the United States and also within the UK and throughout EMEA. To get ‘knee deep’ into the IP infrastructure of every aspect of the Upstream environment really has been a privilege and to gain the hands on experience that we have from some of the industry’s leading lights really has been exceptional. The most significant element for us has been around SCADA and after gaining detailed knowledge of its operation from Flex Rigs, to Pump Jacks to Central Facilities, we then worked with our partners in a number of deep dive technical sessions to exchange knowledge and experiences on how best to secure, optimize and prioritize this data that is so critical to the end-to-end operation of the Oil & Gas industry. Networkology’s years of experience in providing leading edge IP mobility solutions within the Defense and Maritime sectors, allowed us to correlate our expertise into this environment quite seamlessly. From an architectural perspective there are many similarities, especially around the number of 3rd Parties sharing infrastructure across an array of WAN bearers i.e. Satellite, RF and 3G/LTE. In addition it was over 100 degrees F, hot and dusty – so based on our recent experiences in military environments, we were right at home!”
